Keynsham's Trump fails to qualify for Masters
The world number 30 crashed to a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool's Andrew Higginson in the second round of qualifying yesterday at the Pontin's Holiday Park in Prestatyn.
And with defeat in north Wales, the former Grand Prix semi-finalist missed out on a clash with top Thailand professional Andy Zhang in the penultimate qualifying round today.
"I'm disappointed because I'd have loved to have qualified for the Masters, but I didn't take my chances," reflected Trump.
"I know he's (Higginson) a very good player, but I never got in front and he pulled away."
Higginson, a former Welsh Open winner, took the opening frame with a break of 59.
But Trump hit back in style with a break of 125 to level matters.
However, that was as good as it got for Trump as Higginson pulled away with breaks of 66 and 71.
"I was 3-1 down and he won the fifth frame on the final black. If I'd have won that frame it could have been different," added Trump.
Fellow Bristol potter Andrew Norman was beaten 5-1 by Jimmy White in the first round of qualifying.
