Manager of one the most successful investment portfolios, the 2001 Fidelity Select Food and Agriculture Portfolio, Lese has a solid grounding in philanthropy. With a degree in medicine from Cornell University, Lese initially practiced as a paediatrician in Los Angeles. Her involvement in volunteer work with homeless and indigent children and their families opened her eyes to the difficulties facing people from underprivileged backgrounds. As a consequence, Lese involved herself in business courses in order earn experience in business that could be put to use to economically make a difference for people in need of comprehensive economic, social, and health care. In 2004 Lese also ran for the state senate of Massachusetts, offering to combine her business and medical knowledge in order to represent her constituency.
These days Lese manages the portfolio of Allele Fund, a private equity fund she established together with Cherie Blair in 2011. The Fund invests in healthcare and medical technology companies worldwide and has also been providing the funding for mee Healthcare, a healthcare provider operating in the United Kingdom since early 2012. Lese is also the CEO of mee healthcare.
