KEYNSHAM'S second annual food festival takes place in the town this weekend.

The Saturday event aims to celebrate local businesses and food, while encouraging visitors to try something new, learn new recipes and improve cooking skills.

Keynsham Chamber of Commerce and businesses are working with Bath & North East Somerset Council, Keynsham Town Council and the Somerset Farmers' Market.

Lyn Young, Keynsham Chamber of Commerce chairman, said: "Keynsham has a great deal to offer including some fantastic food outlets for all tastes."

Throughout Saturday there will be a number of events taking place.

During the morning there will be food tasters and demonstrations by Keynsham's local chefs and food producers at the Farmers' Market from 9am until 1pm.

At 10am, Mike Ward from the town's Old Manor House will be preparing traditional English dishes, using locally-sourced produce.

He will be followed at 11am by Nedim Orak, of the Pomegranate restaurant, preparing Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes.

At noon Paula Ferrari from Pure Pigs will demonstrate the art of sausage making, produced used from her own traditional breed of pigs.

There will be apple day family craft activities, tasters from Tandoori Garden and the Cook It Team offering advice on healthy lifestyles.

In the afternoon, local chefs will go head-to-head in a bake off at Farrells Irish Italian Restaurant from 3pm until 5pm.

The festival ends with an evening three- course dinner, created from local ingredients at the Keynsham Conservative club from 7pm. See www.keynshamfoodfestival.co.uk.
