THE Post is holding the first of a series of "tough" hustings tomorrow which will test the candidates' knowledge on local issues.
It will be held at the Vassall Centre in Gill Avenue, Fishponds, from 7pm-8pm.

Three more Post hustings will be held during the next few weeks.
They will be held at:
- Anglican Chapel, Arnos Vale on Wednesday, October 31 from 1pm-2pm.
- Bristol Room, Memorial Stadium, Horfield, on Wednesday, November 7 from 7pm-8pm.
- Ashton Gate on Monday, November 12, from 7pm-8pm.
The hustings will be chaired by Post editor Mike Norton who wants to engage as many Bristolians as possible with the election. He said: "They'll be tough for the candidates, too. We won't be giving them the questions in advance so they will have to show a real depth of knowledge about the city."

“Went to the first one in Fishponds tonight. As billed, a tough format with input from the audience encouraged. Lots of agreement and disagreement between the candidates. The biggest local issue was the GBBN bus lane on Fishponds road. All but two (Rogers and Ferguson) agreed it was a failure with some even saying the whole thing should be ripped up. I challenged them to alternatives and suggested the Bristol-Bath cycle route as a rapid transit alternative, to which all but two (Collins and Gallop) said no, but gave no practical alternatives - a bit disappointing. Seems like few are thinking outside the box when it comes to transport implementations.”
