PARENTS, staff and teachers are being urged to have their say on possible changes to the school term dates.

A review on the school term dates for 2014/2015 is now underway and mums, dads, carers, teachers, support staff and governors are being encouraged to share their views.

A review of terms is carried out every year by the North Somerset Council, which works closely with neighbouring authorities to ensure continuity throughout the area.

This takes account of families who may live in one authority's area but have children attending a school in another area.

Following the consultation period, the council will consider responses and decide the academic year for community and voluntary-controlled schools in the area. The dates being proposed for 2014/15 take into account the overwhelming wishes of schools to retain a calendar of 195 days, which allows for staff development days to be set within term time.

A list of term dates is available at http://consult.n-somerset.gov.uk.
