A PUBLIC consultation into plans to open a free primary school in Eastville has opened.

The proposal is being led by The Bristol Inner City Schools Trust and, if granted final approval by the Secretary of State for Education, The Bristol Primary School will open its doors in a converted office building in Eastgate in September with up to 120 pupils. By 2016, the school hopes to reach its full capacity of 420 pupils.

The trust behind the project is holding two drop-in sessions to offer people the chance to share their views on the proposal or ask questions.

The first will be held between 1pm and 3pm at St Paul's Learning Centre in Grosvenor Road, St Paul's, on Saturday, January 9 and the second at Hawks Gym Club in Roman Road, Easton, between 6.30pm and 8pm on January 21.

Andy Burkitt, lead proposer for the school, said: "This is an extremely exciting proposal and we are keen to share our ideas and vision for a school that promises to bring excellence in education to the inner city.

"I very much hope people will come to one of our drop-ins or take the time to respond either online or by returning our questionnaire."
