The exhibition at the former Peacocks shop in the High Street follows a day-long workshop earlier this month which saw residents, businesses, councillors and community groups discuss plans for the 220-acre site.

At the workshop, there were calls for improved access to The Hams and the river- bank, a new Fry Club, transport improvements and enhanced pedestrian and cycle networks. The results of the workshop will be on display at the exhibition.

Philip Court, technical director for Taylor Wimpey, said: "Masterplanning establishes the key principles that will guide and inform how a site can be developed.

"The feedback we received from the workshop has provided us with a very useful insight into local people's concerns and aspirations.

"The public exhibition is an opportunity for local residents and those with an interest in the site to come and view the plans so far, offer their comments and also learn more about how we are investing in public amenities and facilities across Keynsham."

The exhibition – which will be attended by specialist consultants and Taylor Wimpey staff – will run from 2pm until 7.30pm on Friday and 10.30am until 4pm on Saturday.

“If it's anything like the new Caenarvon Road estate behind Charlton Road they'll ask for residents opinions and then utterly ignore them. So what's the point?

They'll cut down all the trees, decimate the wildlife and build about 1000 tiny claustrophobic little boxes for people to live in. Boxes that will occasionally have an exterior, and possibly interior water feature when the river overflows.”
