There's still heaps of improvement to come from Bristol Rugby, says Eves
Luke Eves says Bristol's players have yet to come off the field this season entirely satisfied by how they have performed – despite winning their opening four Championship matches, writes Steve Cotton.
Victory over Exeter Chiefs – one of the other two unbeaten Championship sides – will give Bristol a fifth straight victory for the first time since April 2005.

But centre Eves, who will partner Junior Fatialofa in the midfield at the Memorial Stadium tomorrow, says Bristol have not even come close to fulfilling their potential this term.
They laboured to victories over London Welsh (28-23) and Birmingham & Solihull (40-36) before a stunning first-half display underpinned a 36-10 victory over Rotherham.
And they came through their first major test of the season when they ended Bedford Blues' unbeaten start to the campaign at Goldington Road by winning 6-5 a week ago.
But 20-year-old Eves knows Bristol have several more gears to work through before they start hitting top form.
"If we'd have played our best rugby already, we'd be a bit worried," he said. "But we definitely know there's heaps of improvement to be done.
"We're not blowing this weekend's game out of proportion, but we're obviously looking to get another win.
"We want a big test every week to put ourselves under pressure and to see where we're at. It's still quite early in the season and we're nowhere near the finished article, but these big tests are a good benchmark for us."
Exeter have beaten Plymouth, Coventry, Doncaster and Moseley in their opening four matches, so something will have to give tomorrow afternoon.
But for Eves and Bristol, while victory would undoubtedly provide a major psychological edge – even in early October – the watchword all season has been improvement.
"It's definitely satisfying to have four wins from four games, but every time I've come off the pitch this season I've been frustrated with the way we've played at times," he said.
"Obviously I've been happy with the wins, but we all know we could have put teams to bed a lot earlier.
"There's definitely still a lot to work on and we're looking to keep building – but I think it is coming together. This weekend will be a huge test for us but we're still looking to improve our game.
"We don't want to blow anything out of proportion, because it is just another game. Our focus is just on improving from last week and building every week as we go through the season. For that reason, this game has not been built up any more than when we played Birmingham & Solihull, for example."
And after four only matches in the Championship, Eves has seen enough to suggest it will be a tough, old slog before promotion can even be considered.
"There has definitely been a step up in standard this year in the Championship and there will be a few teams competing at the top," he said.
"We've got to concentrate on ourselves and get our performance right, especially this weekend, which will probably be the toughest test so far.
"It's a long season and I think we are improving steadily, game by game, which is encouraging. But if we're being honest with ourselves, we're not playing at our best yet.
"I don't think it's anything to worry about, though. If we're not playing to our best and still getting the wins, it's really encouraging, because we know that when we do play our best, we should be able to put teams away."
