A sumptuous celebration of the life and times of the great composer Mozart has reigned supreme on this year's Guy Fawkes carnival circuit.

Wills carnival club of Bridgwater was crowned overall champion with its tableau entry Amadeus complete with larger than life candelabras and glorious 18th-century costumes.

Wills' success followed hot on the heels of another triumph which in which it took best tableau at Weston-super-Mare on Monday.

Nemesis (Invasion Earth) by Gremlins carnival club was chosen as best feature float for the whole circuit.

The Moo Lamb Rouge entry by Just Georges carnival club was crowned best comedy float overall.

The results mark the end of the carnival season which began in September.

The Somerset County Guy Fawkes circuit started with the world's biggest illuminated event in Bridgwater and included seven parades across the county.

The youngsters of Marina Sydenham junior carnival club maintained winning ways throughout the processions, picking up the majority of the cups.

Their Flowers in the Rain cart won the juvenile cart category and claimed the Bunch of Grapes Rose Bowl.

Jodie-Bea Mitchell won best adult masquerader for her Through The Eye entry while Hayley Daniells won the juvenile equivalent for her Joker Of The Pack entry.
