DEPUTY Prime Minister Nick Clegg and his Lib Dem colleagues are gleeful at having brought David Cameron to heel, and Labour's leader Ed Miliband had his best moment at PMQs so far, and as he said, "A veto is for life, not just for Christmas".

Cameron's much-vaunted "veto" was no veto, but a sop to his 80 Eurosceptic backbenchers. Cameron has signed a treaty by another name which exposes his "veto" as a veto that wasn't.

Before the General Election, Cameron pledged that he would hold a referendum on EU membership, if he won the election. After being elected, and having signed to draw the UK further into the EU, he said that he would put it to the country in a referendum if he ever did anything of the sort again. Well now he has, signing over more of the UK's sovereignty to Brussels. Whatever happened to the promised referendum? Cameron is an emperor with no clothes.
