Special late night openings of Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery will start next month to allow even more visitors to the Banksy exhibition.

Almost 200,000 people have now seen the elusive artist's free home town exhibition, which runs at the museum until August 31.

News of the late night openings comes with the appearance of a Ronald McDonald mannequin sitting on top of the main entrance to the museum, with mascara-stained tears running down its cheeks and a half-drunk bottle of Bell's whisky standing next to it.

Councillor Simon Cook, Bristol's executive member for culture, sport and capital projects, said: "We have introduced late night opening on Wednesdays in a bid to meet the huge demand.

"Naturally we are delighted with the thousands of visitors, but with waiting times at weekends of up to two to three hours, we thought a late night opening would appeal.

"The Banksy vs Bristol Museum has surpassed all expectations and it's absolutely brilliant to see so many people visiting our museum and galleries."
