We should always remember them
I WAS very interested in your coverage of the Bristol Merchant Navy Association (The Post Sept 4) and thsoe who lost their lives at sea in both world wars. I agree, they should never be forgotten.
I was nearly 13 years old at the outbreak of World War Two.
We only had radio to follow the course of events. I remember how crucial the Battle of the Atlantic was to our very existence and how the Merchant Navy convoys brought in our supplies, protected by Royal Navy warships and the Fleet Air Arm's Fairey Swordfish aircraft (powered by the BAC Pegasus engine).
In 1944 I was called up into the Fleet Air Arm and trained to carry out servicing on aircraft.
