It really is a blot on the landscape
WHAT an eyesore Weston-super-Mare's Birnbeck Pier looks. It's a blot on the landscape.
It has been lying derelict for over 30 years and still developers and North Somerset Council have not pulled out their finger to breath life back into it.

Weston-super-Mare's Birnbeck Pier
Seaide piers have been lovingly restored to former glory, look at Clevedon Pier. Is our old Birnbeck Pier going to end up in the sea, I hope not.

“Considering the single-minded, fixated mania with which NS Council has persecuted the Tropicana site, you'd think they'd be similarly exercised by Birnbeck. But then, it's round the corner and out of the way, and possibly doesn't clash with any cabinet members' personal agendas.
I always preferred a stroll along Birnbeck for the peace and quiet, espcially in the winter. Not everyone wants the noise and lights and smell of chips - no disrespect to those who do, but Birnbeck was always used more by those who live in the area. Would be a shame to let it go completely.”
