Yeovil Town player-manager Terry Skiverton has focused on restoring the team spirit at the club as he looks to lift the Glovers out of the League One relegation zone.

The Somerset club were hammered 5-0 at Brighton last Saturday as confidence reached the lowest point of the season so far.

Skiverton admits he had harsh words with his squad after the defeat at the Withdean Stadium – and is looking for a response when Yeovil face MK Dons today.

"It's just a case of us all being like-minded, getting on the pitch and working for each other," said the Yeovil boss. "We need to do more work on getting the team spirit right and we are remedying that.

"We were all really down after the game last week and there were some harsh words said. But you can't be fluffy around things like that, people have to be told to their face what's gone wrong, otherwise you'll never learn from your mistakes and move on.

"Me and Nathan (Jones, assistant manager) have been honest with people as much as we've been honest with ourselves.

"The home games are the vital ones for us and we've been working hard for Saturday's game. We haven't had a day off this week. I've been satisfied with the response of the players in training this week and hopefully that will show against MK Dons."

Skiverton has presided over six games without a win since succeeding Russell Slade last month.

But he added: "This is a great job, a great club and a great place to be. It's been a tough week but I've had tough weeks before and I'm sure it'll happen again.

"I love this job, I love getting out on the training pitch and I love working with the lads.

"And the positive that I take is that I'm unbeaten at home and hopefully we can keep that going and get a result on Saturday.

Yeovil Town last night released a statement on the recent termination of former boss Slade's contract.

The club say his job was terminated following allegations of gross misconduct.

The statement said: "Athough Russell Slade had always denied the allegations, the outcome of the process, which had been ongoing since November 2008, was that the club believed there were reasonable grounds to conclude that Russell Slade had committed gross misconduct and, based on this belief, the club decided that the position warranted the summary termination of his employment."

“Russell Slade in The Brighton Argus completely disputes what Fry says which is understandable, but who is telling us the truth? RS also states that an agreement for compensation was reached 12 days after he left, what has Fry said on this?Over to you Fry or are you now bound by legalaties and unable to state exactly what happened?”
