“ Visited the other day for lunch with my wife the meal was fantastic as always and the service was great. However only one little moan was that the meal came with french fries ..... very much below the standard that you would expect from a food led pub. Apart from that fantastic and highly recomended. ”

great since the refit

“I have been a customer of the white lion for a couple of years and since they had their up market refit I must say WOW! the food is simply fantastic and the new type of customers makes it a really nice night out. the great part is that they still show sports and play good music on weekends.”

Great pub

“The White Lion on Thornbury High Street is the place to be on the weekend, the disco is great and the dance floor is rocking, it also has great pub grub on a luch time which is a good price, the staff are very freindly too, love this pub, bring on the weekend.”

very nice wine bar / pub

“the white lion serves a very nice range of food during the day and evenings. the day time food menue is the perfect choice for people in a hurry. the food is well presented and is served in a reasonable amount of time. since the refurb the white lion really has become a nice place to go.”

WOW

“a few months ago i would have said that all the pubs in thornbury were not worth visiting, well thats until the white lion had their fantastic refit! the lion has just had a complete new refit and is now set up as a trendy wine bar. the new landlady also makes you feel warm and welcome.”

the best pub in town

“The White Lion has to be the best pub in thornbury, the food is to a high standard and during the day its a nice relaxed place to have a drink and a light meal from the food menue. on an evening mainly weekends the pub totally changes and it becomes a pub/club with a 2am opening time. they serve all the usual drinks as well as running a number of drinks promotions.”

fantastic wine bar that comes alive at weekends

“since the refit at the White Lion located in the middle of the towns high street really does make the high street look more up market. the glittery lights in the window really does make it an expensive looking venue, once you go inside you are able to relax in the leather chairs and you can even select a range of food from the pubs new and very much improved menue. the White Lion really has became an upmarket venue.”

“this is the pub of thornbury, its a cracking venue for people of all ages. in the day children are allowed so you can go for a nice meal and in the evenings it brings thornbury to life! they have music every friday and saturday night and also drink promotions. they also have door staff as well.”

“Fri/Sat nights the Lion is the best pub to drink in. with a disco over the weekend. The Lion also supports theme nights as well as other entertainment events.
A good selection of drinks and also a popular traditional food menu
