The Flyer: Great food and great beer

I have always loved The Flyer and now it looks even better with that fresh lick of paint. The choice of beers is one of the best in the area - particularly if you feel like splashing out on my personal favourite, Fruli. The food is always good, especially the Sunday roasts. The only down side is if it's busy, the wait can sometimes surpass 30-40 minutes and on the weekends, the queue for the bar can go four rows back. If you're looking for a pub with great beer, great food, great atmosphere and a great beer garden then this one's for you.

    Great improvements

“Much better now that it is a bit lighter. Great beers and nice atmosphere. Now we just need them to bring down the price of the Innis and Gunn. ”

The Flyer: one of the posher pubs in Bristol

“The Flyer oozes class. It's got that gastropub vibe and has a decent menu and good selection of wine, ale, beer and cider - including Strawberry Fruli beer, which is delicious. Understandably, it's often very busy and you can have up to an hour's wait for food. However, the surroundings are nice and it's a good place to relax and there's a large beer garden out back - with covered areas too. All round great pub, though you pay for what it is.”

    Very popular now

“What a transformation from what was there several years ago. It’s now a very trendy pub with a great beer garden – if you’re luck to get a spot in the summer. There’s a pretty good selection of beers too including cherry beer, a personal favourite.”

The Flyer - nice but pricey

“The Flyer is the nicest pub on Gloucester Road but you do have to pay for it. It has a beer garden and plenty of comfy seats and tables indoors. The food is good but pricey and you're often left waiting up to an hour for food. They do a great range of beers and ciders, including strawberry Fruli on tap. The crowd is a mix of young professionals, students and posher older folk..”
