CHARITIES and community groups are being encouraged to apply this week for money from a funding scheme for grassroots projects.

The ARISE fund was set up by Cabot Circus to support activities that have a positive impact on society, with grants of up to £1,000 a time.

Since it was launched in 2010, ARISE has helped groups in fields including youth development, education, sport, performing arts, the elderly and disadvantaged groups.

This year ARISE is focused on supporting central Bristol and is open to organisations based in Bishopston, Cotham, Redland, Cabot, Clifton, Clifton East, Ashley, Easton, Lawrence Hill, St George West and St George East wards.
