“Sigh..... And how many edl? And there was a national appeal......... still trying to save face with the never ending cyber battle of spin I see...... Having reviewed the various photos and youtube videos I think the estimate of 1200 (of those coming on Saturday) by Martin Upchurch is possibly the closest to the truth. I saw a few hundred in castle park but there were other people on the redcliffe side and at the train station. Some showed their lack of interest by simply not getting involved. And some people have better things to do with their time they have families and jobs. One thing I was incredulous about though.... I saw the ITV news item about this (where they had the guy from gay pride) and then they cut to I think it was Steve Lennon..... he said 'there's been lot's of demos like the strike action and suchlike and all the people that go on those demos are unemployed or students this is the first time taxpayers are marching'....... how hilarious...... so all those on strike are avoiding tax are they? bit difficult with PAYE. The edl lumps all those who disagree with them into the box of 'student, uaf or middle class'. They might consider me middle class but I bet edl members would be shocked to discover that I don't live in a 3 bed victorian town house and I drive a rather old car. Just because I like red wine doesn't mean I don't know about struggling to pay your bills. But I never found the need to blame foreigners for my troubles. Now please grow up EDL, get a hobby, and stop going round making other people's lives miserable with your hate campaign based on lies and overblown hysteria.”
