“@Jo_Wood - apologies , I've missed all of the run up to this event, I've literally only seen this gallery which has no explanation against it.It's not just this one which has thrown me - I've thought that other galleries on here could do with explanatory text as well (with the exception of the olympic torch photos - I think everyone got what that was about!!)”

“@ Jo_WoodI had no intention to be rude or dismissive. I am delighted when I see women suceed in any area, not just business. However, this was just a load of photographs without any context. The headline implies, in my opinion, something similar to "ladies who lunch". Not entirely something to be proud of.Maybe if your piece had an explanation about what was achieved by this get together, rather than "twitter" you may not have received such a negative response.”

“Well, what a shame that a gallery about local professional women getting together to network and hear from professional speakers has led to some pretty unnecessarily rude and bitter comments. The event was indeed sponsored by Northcliffe Digital and other local businesses, as other professional events are. Articles about the event have been running on thisisbristol for a month or two, so there's no mystery about what the event was about, who it was for and why we were holding it.During the evening we did indeed touch on why women seem to get a rough ride online - a point which was actually refuted by others. I'm afraid the majority of comments on this harmless gallery so far have proved the original question to be true. Nice living up to your stereotypes chaps. I hope and trust you are the shouty minority and that there are far more, quieter, progressive people (both men and women) reading who don't feel quite so threatened..Thanks to all who came and enjoyed. It was an enlightening and encouraging evening.”

“@luisamateus "I'd rather be called a lady, personally!"Me too (if I was female), but it doesn't work so well as a play on words. No offence meant.”

“@bris28 Obviously, a man that has nothing better to do than post a pitiful comment on a harmless article on the local news site. We'd be so much better off if the country were run by these smart social ladies. Your right-wing nonsense would be torn apart on Twitter.”
