Graffiti's gone from Bristol BMX track, so they're off
Committee members of Bristol BMX Club, based at the Tumps area off Coniston Road, arrived at the track a couple of weeks ago to find containers holding club equipment and the track itself had been defaced. They have since been working hard to clean the track ready for the South West Regional BMX Race which was held at the track at the weekend.
The club, which has been going since the 1980s, is run by parents of the youngsters who use the track, who volunteer to keep it going.
They hold a race event for members every Wednesday evening in summer months, but the track is open to all 24 hours a day as it is public land.
Sue Trevascus, the club secretary, said: "We had to use a black tar mixture to cover up the graffiti, and have been so tense in the run-up to the event because we knew it could all happen again at any time."
