old boys take on the new ones at the south!
Tonight's GOTD came from the grading game between sporting yoyo and Elliff FC. Elliff FC were brand new to the centre and were up here to play their first game, the grading process works by depending on the score depends on what league the team grading will go into, therefore it was very important for both teams tonight to really give it their all and push for a victory in order for us to put them into a league that is at their standard.
The game started and you could right away see who were the new team to the centre. The new boys were being overrun by the sporting side in the early stages, who played the ball around nicely, however couldn't find a route to goal as the new boys seemed to block everything that the sporting side threw at them. This was until the 5th minute, when a good shot by the sporting side went through the new boy's keeper, and ended up in the corner of the goal. It wasn't long until the side were 2 goals up; this was after the new boys were dispossessed in their own half, allowing the yoyo side a 1 on 1 opportunity with their keeper, in which they took.
The new boys continued trying to be resilient, however they couldn't stop the dominant yoyo side from scoring again, this time a brilliant advantage from the keeper left them with a one on one situation with the new boys, in which they once again took. The yoyo side then pulled away again, a fantastic strike from distance soared into the roof of the goal, giving them a 4-0 advantage. There was no stopping the yoyo side now, who then scored again from a great turn and finish. The new boys did respond though, a great goal from a great through ball, and then a fantastic strike off the post. However that goal wouldn't end up being there turning point in the game, as the yoyo side scored three more goals before the half time whistle. The first one coming from a poor back pass by the Elliff side, who passed it straight to an opposing yoyo player, who took the ball and scored with ease. The second one coming from a great individual goal after the player showed some great feet, before providing a cool finish. Finally they scored again before the stroke of half time, when a quick free kick caught all the Elliff side sleeping, and the player provided a cool finish under no pressure. Half time the scores at 8-1.
The second half started much as the first finished with the yoyo side being far more dominant than the Elliff. The yoyo side scored after some good play from the back, before passing the ball forward to an open player who tapped the ball in with ease. The side then scored again, this time a fantastic assist from one of their players playing a perfect through ball in to a once again free Yoyo player who left the keeper for dead. There was no stopping the yoyo side now who even went on to score again, this time a great free kick was played around the static wall and to a free player who tapped the ball in from outside the D.

The yoyo side looked almost as if they had been practicing there quick free kicks as another one was taken again resulting in another good goal from catching the Elliff side sleeping. A fantastic half volley strike put the yoyo side further ahead, before a brilliant 1-2 pass resulted in the clearest of tap ins for their side. There was though once again some response from the new boys, after a great finish from a very tight angle snuck underneath the bored Yoyo keeper. However it wouldn't prove to be the turn around again for their team as straight from there centre a great through ball was played to a running on player who scored with a thumping strike.
The new boys did score again, this time a great ball being played to a free man, who hit the ball only for the keeper to save, however the ball ricochet off his leg and high into the air, for it to bounce into his own goal. The new boys did once again score again, after a great finish went straight through the yoyo keeper, that goal didn't prove to be the final goal of the game though, as a simple tap in rounded off what was a great night for the yoyo side, leaving the scores at 16-4 to the yoyo side.
