Feedback: My family enjoyed firework display

I'M writing regarding the Post article about the alleged poor management of the Puxton Park firework display ("Angry families turned away from firework display", November 5).

I would like to say that I attended with my wife and three children and had a marvellous time.

We travelled from Weston Village and we bought our tickets – as did Mr Attwood – before the event and got to the venue at 6.30pm (this being the time that the ticket stated the gates would be open) and readily found parking inside the park.

We were stood next to the "disco" about 15 minutes later while taking in the great atmosphere, smells of both the hog roast and the barbecue that were provided at the event.

Ms Probert's suggestion that the disco was not as described in the advertisements and was poorly presented is very misleading as the ticket said "disco", not "club" or "dance hall". There was no mention of a dance floor, smoke machine or strobe lighting on the ticket (not that one would expect these facilities to be at a farm that is), instead what visitors found was a DJ with decks, a small light show and a snow machine – a jolly good effort if you ask me, especially as it was outdoors and on a farm.

I don't know what those who criticised were expecting for their money.

I had only been to the park once before, and could quite easily work out that it would be very busy on the night, what with the local radio being there and the actual display being said to be the largest in the area.

Maybe those who criticised should have better planned and got there quicker, and the ones who did get in because they braved the "no proper pavements" and "poor lighting" should have thought that being a farm it may not have grade A walking surfaces.

I agree with Mr Omara in that he got caught out, but I would say that this was only down to a very few minor things. The delay in the fireworks being lit was apparently down to the fact the huge bonfire was in the way of some of the display.

I wish to say that for the price, Puxton Park put on a very good show that was the best I've seen for a number of years and, contrary to comments, it did last for more than the suggested six minutes.

Well done, Jon Omara, we will be back next year.

Oh, and the hog roast was perfect, thanks.
