Almost there now - two days to go

Saturday, November 01, 2008, 00:00

I'm feeling a funny mixture of nerves and excitement about this trip to New York.

On the one hand, it's going to be an amazing time - we're arriving on Hallowe'en, which is a big deal in the USA and there's a massive parade down 6th Avenue.

Then on Tuesday (I fly home in the evening) it's the day of the US elections, which should be an incredible experience in itself.

Sandwiched between these two, of course, is the New York City Marathon itself, which I am told is a fantastic atmosphere if you're running despite the fact that you've got to slog through 26 miles to experience it!

I've run one marathon before - London last year - and it was a hot, dehydrating, humbling nightmare, if I'm honest.

I'm hoping this one will be a bit more enjoyable!

Anyway, I'll let you know how I get on when I get back.
