Thank you for making fair a great success

Tuesday, June 30, 2009, 07:00

I would like to thank everybody who put so much hard work into making St Peter's Community Fair, Henleaze, such a huge success.

It is only the third year the event has been run, but thanks to superb organisation and great commitment from people who work so hard behind the scenes, it already feels like an established part of the Henleaze calendar.

The entire church and church hall were taken over by stalls from local craftspeople and charities as well as bric-a-brac and cakes. Much of the funds raised goes straight back into the community, as well as supporting charities working in the third world.

I would particularly like to congratulate the young people manning the nail-painting stall.

They managed to raise an astonishing £100 for the new Henleaze Youth Group, being set up by Liz Radford.

It was particularly good to see young people getting involved, taking the initiative and raising money for their own community venture – and it just shows what can be achieved. A big well done to all involved.
