Search for a Star final line-up decided
At the third and last semi-final last night the following performers were picked from 14 contestants: Last Orderz, Jade Wilkinson, Sarah Waddington, Helen Marles, Kirsty Clinch, Kate Harris, Holly Byrd and Georgie Coles.
First on stage was Jade Wilkinson, 16, from Swindon who gave powerful performances of Whitney Houston's Run to You and Stand Up for Love by Destiny's Child.
Jade said afterwards: "It was nerve-wracking. All the other performers were great."
Helen Marles, 17, from Trowbridge, appeared with a puppet to give a professional performance of A Fine, Fine Line, from puppet-themed musical Avenue Q. Her second tune was the Broadway song Easy Money.
She said: "I've taken part in the competition for three years. I am so pleased to get through to the final."
Singer-guitarist Alan Green, 18, from Easton-in-Gordano, sang two of his own compositions, Flying Solo and the poignant Their Dreams, about children leaving home.
Mark Stacey, 25, from Hengrove, manages a plumbing firm by day and at night is an entertainer on the pub and club circuit.
He sang the romantic ballad Amazed and then got the audience clapping and singing along to Rod Stewart's Maggie May.
Last Orderz were the only band in the third semi-final.
The lads – drummer Alex Elvin, 17, singer and guitarist Jack Riddiford, 17, guitarist Tom Smith, 18, and bass player Nick Townley, 18, – are from south Bristol and won a Battle of the Bands competition last year.
They won deserved cheers from the audience for their performance of Elaine from their EP and a new song, Where Do We Run.
Nick said: "Obviously we are very happy to get through to the final."
Sarah Waddington, 16, from Orchard Vale, Kingswood, sang songs she wrote and also accompanied herself on guitar and then piano. She said: "I didn't really think I would get through."
Kerri Snow, 18, from Filton, sang Natural Woman and Angel.
Sasha Brown, 21, from Downend, sang Saving All My Love For You by Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys' If I Ain't Got You.
Kate Harris, 18, from Chepstow, who is in her final year at Wyedean Sixth Form College, sang It is You and Seasons of Love.
She said: "It's the first time I've got through."
Georgie Coles, 16, from Longwell Green, who was a finalist last year chose the popular I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker by Sandi Thom and A Fine Fine Line from Avenue Q. She said: "I felt a lot better about performing this year. I really enjoyed myself."
Charlotte Day, 19, from Bath, sang Here I Am by Leona Lewis and You Might Need Somebody by Shola Ama.
Holly Byrd, 20, from Rodway Road, Mangotsfield, who works as an optical assistant at Vision Express, sang My Immortal by Evanescence and A Summer in Ohio.
She said: "It was good fun. I had a lot of support from my friends and family."
Kirsty Clinch, 20, sang This Little Place about her hometown Westbury in Wiltshire and A and E.
She said: "I felt like I had a frog in my throat for the first song."
Charli Parsons, 16, from Moreton-in-Marsh, was last to perform with There Are Worse Things from the musical Grease and You've Got Away.
The Grand Final will be on Sunday, May 17. Tickets will cost £6 for adults and £3 for children but will not be available on the night.
