Peter Andre to perform at Yate Christmas show

Musician and reality TV star Peter Andre will be one of the stars of the show when Yate Shopping Centre launches its Christmas season and turns on its festive lights.

The appearance of the ex-husband of former glamour model Katie Price is expected to bring in huge crowds.

When he visited Asda's Bedminster store in September to sign copies of his new album, Revelation, fans started queuing nearly 10 hours before he arrived.

Andre, 36, will perform his latest single from the album on Thursday, November 19, during the centre's afternoon and evening of seasonal entertainment.

A surprise guest will then arrive later to switch on the lights.

Events for children will run during the afternoon, with favourite characters Bob the Builder and Fifi meeting youngsters.

Live music is due to start at 3pm, featuring Andy Scott-Lee, AJ and former rock band member Lee Beaumont, who is now re-training as an opera singer. Andre is due on stage at 4.15pm.

Bush, Troy and Paulina, the Heart FM Breakfast crew, will also be at the event and Father Christmas will arrive at his grotto in a sleigh pulled by real reindeer during a parade which starts at 6.30pm.

With a Jack and the Beanstalk theme, characters in the procession will include Jack, the giant and Daisy the cow, all led by a team of white pantomime ponies.

The lights will be turned on between about 6.50pm and 7pm.

A charity street fair will also run from 3pm to 6pm in South Walk and a family fun fair will operate in West Walk.
