Hunt for missing Bristol man

Thursday, November 20, 2008, 11:19

The Bristol family of man who has been missing for more than two weeks have made an urgent plea for him to get in touch.

Jantzen Chiddy, 33, a test driver for Alfa Romeo, known as "J" to his friends, was last seen in Bridgwater on November 5 arguing with a girl outside a pub in the town.

Police found his car, a VW Golf, abandoned a week later close to woods in All Saints Lane, Clevedon.

Following an extensive search of the woods, police have found no trace of Mr Chiddy.

His family have since launched an extensive search for him, but none of his friends have seen or heard from him.

Police have checked his bank accounts but none of his bank cards have been used since he went missing.

His sister Ceri Chiddy told the Bristol Evening Post they were desperate for news.

She said: "We have looked everywhere for him, spoken to everyone we can think off. We are getting desperate now.

"It's been two weeks and that's a long time to be missing.

"The police searched the woods from top to bottom after finding his car, but they found nothing.

"He has never gone missing before so this is totally out of character."

Police found his car on Wednesday, November 12. Inside was Mr Chiddy's work ID pass.

Originally from Bristol but know living in Bridgwater, Mr Chiddy worked for Alfa Romeo at Portbury Docks.

His mother Maxine Anstey, 53 and sisters Roxanne Ross and Ceri Chiddy are now urging anyone who knows where he is to urge him to get in touch.

Ceri added: "We just want him to get in touch. We just want to know he is alright.

"He could be anywhere. Anything could have happened to him.

"For all we know he might have amnesia and could be sleeping rough not knowing who he is - when something like this happens to your brother you have to consider all possibilities.

"We just want everyone who knows him to help us by looking out for him in places he used to go."

Anyone with information about Mr Chiddy's whereabouts should contact Avon and Somerset police on 0845 4567000.
