Friday, August 22, 2008, 16:01

The partner of murdered glazier Simon Bampton has laid flowers at the spot in Bristol where a passing motorist hit him with a hammerblow punch.

Natasha Matthews, 25, was joined by other family members in Marsh Street, Bristol city centre, this afternoon as they paid their respects to the 28-year-old construction worker.

She earlier told a press conference: “I feel like a part of me has gone with him.”

The couple, who knew each other since school, had been together for six years and shared a rented flat in Southampton.

There were planning to buy a house together.

Police have arrested a 22-year-old man from St Werburghs on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody.
