Driver uninjured after crashing Porsche into pole

Monday, July 06, 2009, 07:00

A Porsche Carrera driver walked away without a scratch after his car crashed to a telegraph pole.

The car spun out of control in Passage Road, Henbury, after a sudden downpour yesterday afternoon.

It smashed into a garden fence and a telegraph pole, knocking both down, at 3.55pm, and despite the force of the impact the driver, who did not wish to be named, got out of the car unhurt.

He told people who came out of their homes to help that the car had aquaplaned on the wet road.

Anna Hill, whose garden fence was the one knocked down but who wasn't home at the time, said: "It was a miracle the driver of the Porsche was not injured."

The road has a 40mph limit, but it is not thought that the Porsche driver was speeding.

Last night residents were waiting for BT to move the broken telegraph pole which was blocking a driveway.
