Cars in M5 motorway pile-up

One car rolled on to its roof and another caught fire in a multi-vehicle incident on the M5 motorway between Falfield and Almondsbury.

Fire crews were called to the scene on the southbound carriageway at about 8pm on Saturday evening.

They found that the occupants had managed to get out of the cars and there were no reported injuried.

Shortly before, firefighters had also helped a man in his 40s who injured his neck and back when his Ford Focus crashed on the northbound carriageway between Clevedon and Portishead.
