Whether it was dressing up, meeting a challenge, doing something embarrassing or a combination of all three, people in schools and workplaces staged their own fund-raising events to tie in with last night's marathon TV appeal.
Among them were workers at insurance giant Axa's Stoke Gifford offices, who staged an X-Factor-style talent contest called The Pudsey Factor in honour of the appeal's mascot.
Pictured here are the Strictly HR team, with singer Tracey Ditman supported by Tim Hopkinson, Stephen Hughes, Damyon English, Mike Hudman and Geoff Clee.
They were collecting money to help the bid to beat last year's total of £38 million. By late last night the appeal had raised more than £15 million in telephone pledges alone.
