Blue Reef Aquarium snaps up marketing manager

Bristol's new £4m Blue Reef Aquarium, which is set to open at the end of October, has appointed a marketing manager.

Susie Unsworth, 28, will take on the role of sales, marketing and visitor services manager at the new Harbourside attraction for both the aquarium and the 3D IMAX cinema.

Prior to accepting the new position Susie was a hostel manager for the Youth Hostel Association in Bath.

Before that she spent five years working for Merlin Entertainments including a spell at the National SeaLife Centre in Birmingham.

She said: "I'm so excited to be involved with such an ambitious project."

"It's unusual to have the opportunity to be on site at such an early stage and it's amazing to see the aquarium literally growing day by day before your eyes.

"The majority of the displays – including the walkthrough tunnel – are now in place and a team of themers are now on site to transform them into everything from shipwrecks to tropical rainforests and spectacular coral reef," she added.

The new aquarium's will feature a series of new displays showcasing marine creatures from around the world in naturally themed environments alongside daily talks and feeding programmes and a calendar of special events and activities throughout the year.
