new boys take on the old guard!
Tonight's GOTD was courtesy of the grading game between Jack Holt and Charlie Baddeley. The Charlie Baddeley team were brand new to the centre and were up here to play their first game, the grading process works by depending on the score depends on what league the team grading will go into, therefore it was very important for both teams tonight to really give it their all and push for a victory in order for us to put them into a league that is at their standard.
The game started with both teams looking bright, the boys looked full of energy and really looked to play good football, whereas the Holt side were the same as ever, quick, strong and looking to dominate. It took a while for the new boys to get used to playing at such a fast pace, and after a couple of good saves from there keeper, they eventually sprung to life just narrowly missing the target with a good effort on goal. However for the Jack Holt side were looking to win as ever, and scored the opening goal in the 10th minute with a tap in from a one on one situation. They then went on to score again, as one of the baddeley boys got dispossessed in his own half, leaving the Holt player one on one with the keeper, in which he buried with ease. The Holt side then had the badelely keeper to thank for their third goal, after poor handling from a long distance shot ended up in their goal.
The holt side weren't giving up there, they went on to score another two goals before halftime, the first one coming from a good shot on the edge of the area, after a good string of passes by the holt side. These good strings of passing continued and eventually gained them there 5th goal. When a good ball from the back player went all the way through the baddeley team and onto an awaiting Holt player who tapped in from close range. 5-0 the score at half time.
The second half started much as the first half finished, with the Holt team looking the more dominant of the two. This was evident as the side scored again, a sensational half volley from the half way line rocketing into the bottom corner of the goal. They then went on to score again, this time with a great counter attack after stealing possession, and scoring in a one on one situation. Even though the Baddeley side were continuing to press the Holt side, the Holt keeper was having a great game. He was even to thank for the Holt sides next goal, after a great save lead to him throwing the ball down the pitch to his free team mate, who added the simplest of finishes to score. Unfortunately for the Baddeley side the keeper wasn't as good as the Holts, as he was to blame for their next goal conceded. Some terrible keeping seen the ball go underneath his foot from a back pass and into the goal.

The Holt side were really on top form now, and continued to add to their free scoring play. The next one coming from a quick free kick, in which the player passed to a nearby team mate, who struck a great strike into the far corner of the goal. They then scored again, after a long distance strike hit the crossbar, only for the Baddeley side to leave it bouncing in the middle of the park, and the same player who had the shot score with a powerful strike from a fare distance. By this point the Baddeley side had given up, and were really there for the taking. They then conceded two goal of the exact same calibre. When both goals were scored y a tap across goal, and an awaiting Holt player there to tap the ball in from close range.
The Holt side were now playing with no real response from the Baddeley side, and were really able to tear the team apart. They scored a good goal with three passes resulting in a freeman up front providing a good finish under no pressure. They then topped this off by passing 5 times before the same player tapping the ball into the same corner as before. Then came the comedy goal of the night, when one of the Baddeley players was about to lose the ball, before he dived on the floor in a Luis Suarez styled way, not fooling the referee who allowed the Holt team to play on in which they scored from. There was some response from the Baddeley side, who scored what was possibly the best goal of the night, as one of their players dribbled past everyone on the opposing team before scoring brilliantly into the top corner of the goal. However it wouldn't prove to be the final goal of the game as from the kick off the Holt team went straight down the other end to score just before the final whistle. 17-1 the final score.
