No need to call it a mansion house
WHY, oh why do so many people insist on calling Ashton Court, "Ashton Court Mansion"? Do we call Barrow Court "Barrow Court Mansion" or Hampton Court "Hampton Court Mansion"? The name of this house is Ashton Court, although the City Council appears set upon it being know with the appendage "mansion".
It is a know fact that descendants of the Smyth family who live there from 1545 to 1946 are upset by this new naming.
