We need to get a bit more streetwise, says Bristol's Jarvis

Bristol fly-half Adrian Jarvis believes that discipline is key as they head into next week's clash with Exeter.

Jarvis' two first-half penalties earned Bristol Rugby a narrow 6-5 victory at Bedford on Saturday, but the No 10 knows that there are areas in need of improvement.

He said: "We were quite lucky. Our discipline let us down in the second half and on a different day we wouldn't have won that game.

"Perhaps we didn't play enough territory in the second half and there were a few things where we need to get a bit more streetwise."

But for a poor kicking display by Bedford's Canadian full-back James Pritchard – he missed all four of his attempts – Bristol's unbeaten run would've come to an end.

Jarvis continued: "Fair play to Bedford, they stuck at it and came at us really hard and didn't let us get our game going. They haven't had a try scored against them so we knew that it wasn't going to be easy and they certainly weren't going to give that up at home."

Despite being far from their best, Bristol left with the points and Jarvis thinks that if they can put their game together for longer stretches, then the rest of The Championship should beware.

"We looked quite dangerous at times, but we need to play for 80 minutes because at the moment we're playing in dribs and drabs and it's not quite enough." he added.

"It's nice to take a bit of momentum into the Exeter game next week. We know there are going to come at us hard., but if we cut out the errors and be more consistent then we'll really ask questions of any opposition."
