Putting the fun into fund-raising at Portishead Pool
The newly formed pool fundraising committee is organising a number of events at the lido for children during the summer holidays.
The first event is a craft fair on Wednesday, August 5 from 10.30am to 2.30pm where children can enjoy fabric and ceramic painting. Volunteers will also teach a number of other crafts, including knitting. Entry to the craft fair is £5 and tickets are available on the door on a first-come, first-served basis.
Pottery painting parties are also planned on August 19 and August 25 from 10.30am to 1pm.
The Brandon Trust will supply all the pots and mugs for painting. Once painted, trust members will take away them away for firing and return them to the pool for collection.
All profits from the fun events will be ploughed back into pool funds. The events are open to all young people, but children under eight need to be accompanied by an adult.
Fundraising committee member, Jill Fletcher, said: "We are aiming these events at young people to offer them something different to do during the holidays.
"We are planning a number of other events through the year and are asking anyone who wants to get involved with fundraising for the pool to get in touch."
