Posh cake shop to open in Clifton Triangle
Patisserie Valerie, which also has a shop in the newly opened Cabot Circus in Bristol city centre, will be open in time for Christmas in the spot previously occupied by the St Peter's Hospice shop.
Paul May, managing director of Patisserie Valerie, said: "We are very much looking forward to opening another shop in Bristol after the success of our recently launched Cabot Circus store.
"We are looking at other locations throughout Bristol and the South West as well for future openings."
Earlier this week the Evening Post reported the charity decided to move out because it could not afford a rent increase.
Estate agent Burston Cook said despite the closures of several properties on the Triangle it was likely they would be filled by new tenants.
Julian Cook, partner at Burston Cook, said: "Queens Road has experienced significant rental growth over the last five years or so and this certainly counts out certain retailers from continuing to afford shops in this particular pitch.
"That being said, we did generate offers from three major national retailers wanting to rent this unit, which is very encouraging in the current uncertain times.
"We carefully considered the best tenant for this pitch and are pleased to announce we have completed the lease to Patisserie Valerie who should hopefully be trading in time for Christmas."'
Mr Cook added: "There is no doubting trading conditions are difficult at for many retailers and this is likely to remain the case throughout 2009, however, we have in recent months secured a number of new tenants in Clifton Village and Whiteladies Road.
"It is essential for commercial agents and landlords to work closely with tenants in Bristol to understand their business needs and where possible maintain occupancy."
