Tiverton Town 3 Clevedon Town 2

Clevedon Town found themselves rock bottom of the Southern League Premier Division after this defeat to West Country rivals Tiverton Town.

Clevedon were handicapped by the loss of three key players – injured skipper Chris Collins, midfielder Craig Loxton, who had flu, and defender Matt Driscoll.

Tiverton took an early lead when Bobby Hopkinson's corner was scrambled in by Paul Wyatt who gave goalkeeper danny Greaves from close range.

Keeping up the pressure, Tiverton went close to increasing their lead on a couple of occasions through Aaron Pugh.

Clevedon were level seven minutes before half time when midfielder Pete Sheppard headed home.

Clevedon were caught cold in the opening minutes of the second half and conceded a goal to put Tiverton in charge.

A good run and cross from Mike Booth set up Alex Faux to give Tiverton a 2-1 lead just three minutes in.

A disputed penalty kick, which came after the referee had allowed the game to go on for a minute after the assistant referee had flagged for a foul, allowed Mike Booth the chance to make it 3-1 from the spot.

In the closing minutes, Clevedon pulled a goal back through central defender Dale Peckham but, despite constant pressure in the final couple of minutes, they were unable to score an equaliser.
