Builder's 'J Goody' number plates to raise cash for star's sons
Jason Goodfield, 22, bought the J600 DYY plates five years ago for £250 because his nickname is Goody.
He has now put them up for sale on an internet auction site with a reserve price of £10,000, and will donate half the cash to the Big Brother star's two sons.
Jason, who is engaged with an 8-month-old son called Jake, said: "I have been reading about Jade's battle with cancer and I recently had a little boy myself, so I feel really sorry for her kids being left without a mum at such a young age.
"Hopefully this money will help them out a bit."
Jade Goody, 27, was diagnosed with cervical cancer in August 2008, and was told that she only had months to live in February this year. She has two sons, Bobby, five, and Freddie, four.
Jason bought the plates when he was 17 and when he put them on his black Audi TT, he found that people thought it belonged to Jade.
Star-struck onlookers would take pictures, and he was even followed down the motorway by clueless fans.
When Jade was at the centre of a Big Brother race row in 2007, Jason said passers-by hurled abuse at him when he was driving the car. He now has a company car and has sold the Audi the plates used to be on.
Jason has recently bought a house, and said the money he would keep from the sale of the plates would be put to use on his new home.
He said: "Some of it will probably go on mortgage payments, and the rest on doing the house up a bit."
