Bristol cafe raise cancer cash with creative cup cakes

Wednesday, October 07, 2009, 07:00

Bristol-based cafe chain Boston Tea Party has raised hundreds of pounds for charity by selling limited edition cupcakes.

The chain, which has cafes in Clifton Village, Park Street, Whiteladies Road as well as outlets in Barnstaple, Bath, Exeter and Honiton, was fundraising in the week leading up to Macmillan Cancer Support's nationwide event – the World's Biggest Coffee Morning. Each cafe made special coffee cupcakes on site ready to sell, and the Clifton cafe alone raised nearly £500 by selling nearly 400 cakes.

Assistant manager Fran Wooltorton said: "It was all for a great cause and we were encouraging each other to sell as many as we could, so there was a bit of friendly competition."
