People in Bristol can find out more about mental health services in the city at an event in Southmead.

Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership (AWP) wants Bristolians to learn more about its work as part of its plans to become a foundation trust, giving it more autonomy and making the service more accountable to the community it serves.

The drop-in session at Southmead Community Centre on Friday will include a presentation about the health trust's plans and the chance for people to take part in discussions.

AWP hopes to recruit thousands of members as part of its bid to become a foundation trust so it can draw on their interests and experiences to help influence how it might improve its services and make them even more responsive to service users and carers.

The Trust has produced a consultation document, which is available by contacting the foundation trust team on 0800 649 9990.

The drop-in session will run from 2pm to 8pm on Friday, October 16 at Southmead Community Centre, 248 Greystoke Avenue, Southmead.
