Top marks for Brislington school
Holymead Infant School is a happy and harmonious community where pupils thoroughly enjoy their learning and get on exceptionally well with one another.
That is the verdict of Ofsted inspectors who visited the school in Hollywood Road, Brislington in July.

They rated the 270-pupil school as 'good' overall and 'outstanding' in several areas.
In a letter to the children, lead inspector Christine Huard said: "These are the things we liked best:
● Your behaviour is excellent and you are really keen and enthusiastic about your learning.
● You are doing well in English, maths and science, and in many other subjects.
● Teachers make learning interesting and fun for you.
● Your work in art is stunning.
"So that you can do even better, we have asked your teachers to do two things. Some of you who find learning in mathematics easier than others need to be given more challenging tasks to do.
"We have also asked that your teachers don't spend too long on the introduction to your lessons so that you have plenty of time to learn and discover for yourselves."
The Ofsted report praised the school's stimulating learning environment and its inspiring curriculum based around creative and practical themes.
"Pupils receive outstanding support for both their personal and academic development and their efforts are valued and celebrated," the inspectors added.
Head teacher Kate Slatcher was said to provide exceptional leadership and a clear vision for further improvement.
Ms Slatcher said the school recognised that there was always room for improvement and already had plans in place to further challenge gifted and talented pupils.
She said: "I am delighted that the outstanding care and curriculum offered by the school has been recognised by Ofsted. Staff work extremely hard to produce a lively, supportive atmosphere where the development of the whole child is paramount."
Chairman of governors Mark Carew said: "It is extremely rewarding for the staff, parents and also the governors to receive this high level of recognition from Ofsted."
