Somerset star Trescothick named most valuable player
The Somerset opener topped the Professional Cricketers' Association rankings for a season after scoring 2,916 first-team runs.
Next week Trescothick is due to go on his first overseas tour in three years – since he suffered a stress-related illness in Australia – when Somerset CCC visit India.
He said: "I know the risk and I know what happens when it goes wrong.
"In the last couple of times I have tried to go on tour it's failed, so of course [it is a risk].
"Let's try and break the tradition of what has happened over the last few times.
"I can only try. It's a big competition for the players and for the club. I have got to try and make it happen."
Trescothick will not fly out with the rest of the team this Saturday but is due to travel on Monday.
