Mogg to hear on Yate Town role
Mogg held discussions with club chairman Pete Jackson earlier this week and there was a full committee meeting last night, so his future should be resolved in the next 24 hours.
"I had a meeting with three members of the club's committee, including the chairman, to discuss a few things," said Mogg.
"I am expecting a call from the chairman to let me know whether they want me to stay on and let me know this (budget) is what I have to work with, and I can say yes, or whatever, and get on with it.
"On the other hand, there may be members of the committee who are not happy, so they may decide to do something else. We'll see what happens."
At present, Mogg appears to be the number one contender for the job even though he found it hard to stop the slide after replacing Richard Thompson, who was sacked.
If he does stay, there will inevitably be changes as Mogg was highly critical of certain players for a lack of professionalism in the vital closing weeks of the season. He will also be keen to put his own stamp on the side that he inherited.
Meanwhile, speculation that Bitton boss Andy Black, who led the side to the Toolstation Western League title, was being lined up as the new manager at Lodge Road have been denied.
"I have spoken to no one at Yate," said Black.
● Mangotsfield United manager Phil Bater's search for a new goalkeeper ended this week with the signing of the experienced Tony Court from Yate Town.
Court, who hadn't played since injuring his shoulder in August, had been linked with a move to Chippenham Town, but Bater moved quickly to snap him up for Mangotsfield United after releasing last season's first-choice keeper, Josh Clapham.
"Tony is big, has a physical presence and commands the penalty area," said Bater. "To sign him so soon after the season ended is a major bonus."
At the club's annual awards night, Geraint Bater, son of the manager, was voted player of the season, while Scott Hendy picked up both the manager's player and players' player-of- the-season awards. The first-team young player of the season went to Kyle Tooze.
● Clevedon Town boss Nick Tucker has been given the go-ahead to strengthen his side before the end of the month.
"I am looking to re-sign most of the lads who ended the season and also bring in three new players in the next seven to 10 days," said Tucker. "We are looking to go with a first-team squad of 18 players next season."
