A man had the top part of his ear bitten off during an attack.

The 25-year-old man was in St James Street at 11.40pm on January 31 with a friend when they were approached by two other men.

After a verbal exchange, the victim was attacked by one of the males and his ear was bitten.

He subsequently required hospital treatment and the top piece of his ear had to be stitched back on.

The victim also suffered bleeding and swelling to his nose and face.

Police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the incident and who is currently on bail pending further enquiries.
