This is the first look at the proposed new Bristol University building on part of the old Children's Hospital site.

On the corner of St Michael's Hill and Tyndall Avenue, the building will house research and teaching space for the departments of biological sciences and mathematics.

The plans also include a new route into Royal Fort Garden from St Michael's Hill.

Patrick Finch, bursar and director of estates, said: "These proposals are vitally important to the university's development in key areas of science and thus to the level of its contribution on the global stage.

"We have listened carefully to the very constructive feedback we have received from local residents and organisations and believe that our revised scheme is also sensitive to local needs."

The latest exhibition of the proposals showing the final designs will be on display from Tuesday, December 16, until Friday, December 19, in the foyer of the university's Senate House on Tyndall Avenue.

“How refreshing to read a positive news story. Congratulations Bristol University you're a credit to the South West. It's strange that there are so many comments on negative stories and hardly any on the good parts on living in the area. Good on you Bristol Uni.”
