First look at £40m Bristol all-through school
This is a first glimpse inside the £40-million Bridge Learning Campus, which opens this month in Hartcliffe, Bristol.
The long-awaited education centre brings together learning facilities for children from birth to age 19 – and their families.
It is being run by a trust involving the University of the West of England, City of Bristol College and Bristol City Council.
The campus replaces Teyfant Community Primary and Hartcliffe Engineering Community College.
Later this year, it will also take in City of Bristol College and New Fosseway Special School.
The campus comprises an 850-place secondary school, a 420-place primary school, a 45-place nursery, a 200-place vocational centre, a 33-place student support centre for 14 to 16-year-olds at risk of exclusion, and provision for 100 pupils with severe learning difficulties.
The aim is to create an innovative "all-through" centre for learning from nursery to university.
Executive principal Mark Davies said: "The hopes and aspirations of 15 years are coming to fruition.
"This community has been desperate to change the face of education and learning in the area and this campus provides us with the opportunity for that. My commitment is that we will maximise its potential for the people of Hartcliffe and Withywood."
