Dings look to end bad run against Worthing

Friday, November 06, 2009, 07:00

Dings Crusaders once again ring the changes in the search for a much- needed home win tomorrow against Worthing (2.30pm) after slipping to third from the bottom in National Two South.

The Bristol side have not tasted victory since defeating Lydney 27-26 back on September 12, although Rosslyn Park were fortunate to escape with a draw the last time Stean Williams' squad were in action in Lockleaze.

Adam Westall and Ricky Jones return at half-back for Tom Lukjaniec and Steve Plummer, while in the pack prop Chas Meddick returns from a seven-week injury lay-off and Richard Thomas is preferred at hooker to Dave Wheeler, who reverts to the bench.

There is also a return for Gavin Curry at No 8, with Pierre Panizzutti moving to the blindside.

Third-placed Clifton, fresh from their excellent home win over Richmond, are away to Lydney.

Director of rugby Darren Lloyd makes only one change, Rob White taking over at tighthead prop from Andy Raines.

Skipper Ashley Russell returns at lock and Harry Warman is back at centre for Weston-super-Mare, who are away to Redingensians in National Three South West.

Yatton, meanwhile, name former Winscombe centre Darren Bevan on the bench for the first time for the crucial home clash against fellow South West One West strugglers St Mary's Old Boys.

Western Counties North high-flyers Thornbury, facing Southmead in the league for the first time, make one enforced change to the side that won at Old Reds with Kiel Wright replacing Tom Guzman in the back row for what is likely to be his final game before moving to London.
