Ashley turn up the heat on Barca

ASHLEY moved to within three points of the Division I leaders, Bristol Barcelona, after a 2-1 win over Easton Cowboys in the Bristol Downs League.

Andrew Hamilton-Dunn was on target for Cowboys but Brett Eamer, with a header, and Dan Scoins' winner gave Ashley the points.

Torpedo are up to fourth after beating Lawes Juniors 1-0. Jay Belo scored the only goal.

Cotswool pipped Clifton St Vincents 2-1. Mark Humphries' 20-yard drive gave Saints the lead but Gareth Thomas and an own goal won it for Cotswool.

In Division II, Tebby AFC picked up a welcome 1-0 win over Sneyd Park Reserves thanks to Deon Allen's strike.

Luccombe Garage's prolific scorer Mohamed Mido netted a hat-trick and Steve Hayes was also on the mark in a 4-2 win against Cotswool Reserves, who replied through Rob Foster and Aaron Baker.

Andy Gerson and Owen Jennings fired Hydez FC to a 2-1 victory over St Andrews, whose scorer was Dean Sheppard.

Christian Cometa hit both goals as improving Evergreen defeated Jersey Rangers 2-1 in Division III. Mike Connors replied for Rangers.

Portland Old Boys Reserves beat Sneyd Park A 3-1 with goals from Joe Lydiard, Phil Peace and club secretary Jerry Halpenny.

Sporting Greyhound Reserves edged out LA Cricketers 4-3 thanks to John Randell, Mike Lyons, Dan Kanaris and an own goal. Craig Green (2) and Jerry O'Donaghue were on the scoresheet for Cricketers.

Adie Phipps scored direct from a corner as Easton Cowboy Reserves held Ashley Reserves 1-1, while Paul Davies and Andy Howard earned Clifton St Vincents A a 2-2 draw with Beachcroft.

Goals by Bob Blake and Chris Barton failed to save Bristol Barcelona Reserves from a 3-2 defeat against Clifton Rockets Reserves.

DDAS moved into top spot in Division IV with a 3-2 win against Hydez Reserves. Lee Mayne, Rich Haynes and Glaswegian Billy McMillan netted for DDAS, while Alan Dunn scored both Hydez goals.

Conham Rangers beat Severnside 4-2 thanks to Des Mulchay, Ross Wilkinson, Nick Chappell and Aaron Huxtable, while Jamie Davey (2) and Jack Davies shot Sneyd Park B to a 3-0 win over Clifton St Vincents B.

Tebby AFC Reserves won their first game of the season – 3-2 against Wellington Wanderers. Ross Nicol and Rob Elliott netted for Wanderers, with Chris James, Dan Oldaker and Alex Ives on the mark for Tebby.
