Mark Regan column: I enjoy going down to France, although I am not very well liked down there.

That doesn't bother me too much, even though I had to change the name on my passport so I was allowed in yesterday.

I am not especially popular in France, which goes back to the last time I played there in an international for England (in the Six Nations last season). But the way I see it is that if you get booed off at Stade de France it is a fairly big compliment.

So I like going down there and playing away in France certainly doesn't worry me. Playing at Montpellier tonight will be a good experience for all of our boys.

Most importantly, it is another opportunity to perform and hopefully get that first win of the season. There were some very good performances at Northampton last weekend and we know where we went wrong.

You can't miss 23 tackles as a team and not expect to concede a few tries – that particular statistic is disastrous even if we are getting most of the other bits right now.

Montpellier will be a good test for us and personally I am glad Justin Marshall is playing for them.

That means they are taking it seriously – and I am also looking forward to catching up with him.

I have played Barbarians with him and he is a good buddy of mine, not to mention a fantastic player with a lot of experience.

I have mentioned the negative side of our EDF Energy Cup defeat at Northampton, but one of the bright spots was provided by Mathew Turner.

Whenever a new, young player arrives at the club, I tend to call him by a different name – and in training last week, he was called "Martin".

But after those two tries, I was calling him Mathew by the end of the game at Northampton, and his arrival has given everyone a lift.
